The group we were with suggested grabbing a beer to end the day, so once we finished up sledding, we walked the short distance to King Pine‘s base lodge for a drink & live music. I am OBSESSED with sledding and haven’t had the opportunity to do this for years (San Diego doesn’t get snow), so of course, when handed my tube, I started to speed walk (OK, maybe run) to the lift. Of course, when we noticed a lodge at the summit, we couldn’t help but take a break for a quick beer.Īfter a few more runs & a bite to eat, we hopped back on our Skedaddle bus and drove over to King Pine for some afternoon tubing. Once picking up our lift passes, we made our way up the mountain, spending the next few hours exploring the trails. Just a short three hour drive and we found ourselves at Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway, NH. Prior, we reserved two seats for the weekend that would bring us to a few of New Hampshire’s ski resorts and back.

That Saturday morning, we woke up at the crack o’ dawn, made our way to Boston and hopped on the bus departing at 7AM. We typically ski at Mount Snow in Dover, VT, so we were very excited to explore a few of the ski mountains in the New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest. Now, Jeff and I absolutely love to ski and when we noticed a weekend route to New Hampshire, we hopped on board.

Best yet, if you’re the first to join a route and/or you create one yourself, your ticket is free (whoop, whoop!). Just hit the “explore” button on the app’s home page and you’ll see dozens of routes to choose from. OR, if you’re looking to get away but not sure where, you can browse routes already set up that need a few more passengers.

Essentially, you download the app, choose your pick-up location, destination, and time of travel and the Skedaddle team does the rest! You’ll be picked up in a luxury bus and transported to your destination with 9 other travelers. Luckily, I was recently introduced to a new travel app, Skedaddle, which makes long-distance travel so much easier and affordable. How would I get there? Did Jeff (my husband) want to go on the road trip as well (he’s the one with the car)? If not, what were my solutions? Typically, it involved looking up bus schedules, followed by train schedules, followed by a glimpse at Priceline to see if I could even take a cheap flight, and eventually car rental options.

the whole she-bang… often times, when I wanted to hit the road, it came with a few problems. While yes, it meant that a chunk of my paycheck didn’t go towards car maintenance, gas, insurance, you know. Up until recently, life with out a car was nice… but oh-so-inconvenient at times. Right after graduating from college, the first thing I did was sell my car to help pay the absurd broker fees for an apartment rental. For years, I had been a city dweller, very dependent on public transportation.
